TIG Quarterly Meeting
|
March 26th at 12pm CST
|
Our first TIG meeting will begin with brief updates and logistics, followed by a presentation from Dr. Jason Ravitz, founder of Evaluation by Design. Read the session description below, and we look forward to seeing you there!
From Snapshots to Systems: Building Cumulative Evidence in Educational Evaluation
Many educational evaluations rely on episodic data collection and static reporting, producing snapshots of program activity rather than cumulative evidence that supports ongoing learning and course correction. This presentation explores how evaluators can design cumulative evidence systems that integrate data collection, analysis, and visualization into continuous program improvement. Drawing on examples from K–12, higher education, and workforce initiatives, the session will illustrate how interactive dashboards and reproducible workflows—often using open-source tools such as R and Shiny—can strengthen professional judgment, reduce analytic error, and make program impact visible in real time.

TIG Quarterly Meeting
|
May 28th at 12pm CST
|
Please join us for our second quarterly TIG meeting of the year on Thursday, May 28th at 12:00 p.m. CST via Microsoft Teams. We are pleased to have a presentation from Dr. Nitya Venkateswaran from RTI International, who will share a framework for applying equity principles in qualitative and quantitative research design. Please see descriptions for this session and our speaker below!
About this event: Using culturally responsive and equitable approaches in data collection processes requires researchers to consider many facets of diversity, equity, and inclusion. What this looks like for each project may differ depending on the project's focus and participants. Dr. Nitya Venkateswaran (RTI International) will share a framework for applying equity principles in qualitative and quantitative research design, including development of research questions, data collection and analysis with illustrative examples from her past and current projects in education. Participants will have opportunity to learn practical approaches to embedding equity in various project stages. The presentation will draw on concepts from Equity Centered Transformative Research Framework.
About the speaker: Nitya Venkateswaran is a Senior Education Research Analyst at RTI International and has more than 15 years of experience researching and evaluating educational initiatives and programs aiming to dismantle systems to improve outcomes for students furthest from educational justice. She has worked with a wide range of clients, including non-profit, state, and foundation partners to support continuous improvement to make education systems more equitable. She is an expert in equity-centered and culturally responsive methodologies to understand transformative change needed in educational systems to achieve educational equity and trained over 2000 researchers at RTI in equity-centered research and evaluation methods.
We hope you will join us for what promises to be an engaging and informative discussion.
