Leadership Structure

As of November, 2011, the PreK-12 TIG leadership structure shall be similar to AEA’s leadership structure.
 

Chair.  The Chair shall preside over the annual business meeting and over other leadership team and business meetings that occur throughout the year. The chair represents the TIG and TIG members in any formal AEA discussions, follows-up on the decisions made at the annual business meeting, and keeps the membership informed of any AEA business that directly affects the TIG members.  

Chair-elect.  The chair-elect performs the duties of the chair in the event that the chair is absent or unable to perform the duties.  The chair-elect also supports and learns the duties of the chair and supports the program committee as needed.

Past Chair.  The past chair serves as a general advisor to the leadership team and helps to maintain records and policies of the TIG.

Program Chair.  The program chair is responsible for delivering a complete program of TIG-sponsored conference sessions to the annual conference. The program chair receives all of the proposals submitted directly to the TIG, puts out a call for volunteer reviewers, and works with the leadership team to facilitate proposal reviews, decisions, and the conference program.

Program Chair-elect.  The program chair-elect supports the program chair and learns the procedures the program chair performs.

Past Program Chair.  The past program chair supports the program chair and program chair elect, serves as a general advisor to the program team, and maintains records and procedures related creating a successful program of TIG-sponsored sessions.

Members-at-Large
. Additional members shall support the leadership team in TIG decisions, proposal review process, and contribute to the implementation of TIG plans and action steps. 

  Election and Terms of Office

Terms of office begin January 1 after election and correspond to the calendar year, ending December 31 of the final term year.  All elected officers shall serve three-year terms.  The Chair, Chair-elect, and Past Chair will each serve one year in their respective offices.  The Chair-elect shall automatically become the Chair in the following year, and the Chair shall automatically succeed to the office of the Past Chair.  Likewise, the Program Chair, Program Chair-elect, and Past Program Chair will each serve one year in their respective offices.  The Program Chair-elect shall automatically become the Program Chair in the following year, and the Program Chair shall automatically succeed to the office of the Past Program Chair.
