This is a multi-paper session from AEA 2016 and walks through the program, evaluation, and information design experiences of YMCA of the USA’s evaluation team. Y-USA shared meaningful experiences and challenges with attendees around the intentional design process for program, evaluation, and information that make it possible to effectively serve community needs. For program design, we discussed how often disparate departments worked collaboratively to identify, refine, evaluate, and scale effective achievement gap programs. In the area of evaluation, the recently developed Early Childhood Equity Improvement Project shared its experiences in utilizing multiple approaches and methods for identifying best strategies and practices of local YMCA programs. Finally, the topic of information design was explored through current ventures into providing real-time data, data presence in social-media, and building information sharing capacity. The design-focused efforts of these programs seek to model high quality evaluation practices for local YMCAs and other non-profit organizations across the nation.
