Tangerine™ is open source software designed to improve the efficiency and accuracy of early grade reading and mathematics assessments traditionally administered on paper instruments. This session will demonstrate how to use Tangerine™ through the creation of assessment instruments, online and offline use on mobile tablets, and the uploading of results for immediate analysis. We will discuss recent project experiences from the field including large-scale assessments in Haiti, Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, Indonesia and the Philippines. During the session participants will have several hands-on opportunities to try Tangerine™ themselves on tablets we provide. After reviewing the core features of Tangerine™, we will demonstrate Tangerine:Class, a second version which is designed for teachers to independently and systematically collect, analyze and use rapid assessment data on their pupils.
