The lack of substance abuse and addiction-related academic education leaves students underprepared to enter professional practice and respond to the needs of substance abusing clients. To bridge this gap, brief research-based neuroscience of addiction and FASD curricula were developed and integrated into existing criminal justice, nursing, and social work courses. This presentation highlights evaluation research activities conducted 1) to gauge the penetration of substance abuse/addiction-related content using a national sample of academic addiction counselor education programs; and 2) the impact of infusing brief, intensive curricula on students’ knowledge and attitudes about substance use disorders (SUDs). #2010Conference #Alcohol,DrugAbuse, andMentalHealth
