Session ID: 2870 Capacity Building Strategies to Assess Fidelity of Program Implementation in Youth Development Grant Funded Programs

10-24-2020 00:12

Assessing fidelity of program implementation could be a challenging task. Both evaluators and grant funded evaluation consumers often struggle to capture essential aspects of implementation in rigorous and reliable ways that go beyond anecdotal measures of effectiveness. Yet, meeting implementation objectives is an essential funder requirement that determines not only the success of a program, but also the likelihood to get funded again. A reliable assessment of program implementation sheds light on outcomes and generates strategies for continuous program improvement. This workshop builds a common framework for understanding implementation in youth development grant funded programs and provides hands-on opportunities for a data-driven, rigorous assessment of fidelity based on grant goals and objectives.  A sample fidelity checklist will be provided to all participants together with an implementation evaluation formula that would allow participants to reliably apply the newly acquired strategies to the assessment of their own grant funded programs.  These essential skills will build the capacity of both evaluators and program delivery staff to enhance fidelity of program implementation in an effort to meet grant objectives and satisfy funder requirements.
