The Michigan Evaluation of School-based Health (MESH) Project studied the impact of school-based health centers (SBHCs) on the health and health behaviors of middle and high school students. Using a prospective cohort design, study outcomes relating to health and health behaviors were measured annually by student self-report. Students were recruited from matched schools with and without SBHCs. Three-level hierarchical linear models estimated the effects of SBHCs on the study outcomes at the school level and the effects of SBHC use at the student level. At follow up, users of SBHCs experienced greater satisfaction with their health, lower emotional discomfort, more physical activity, and greater consumption of healthy food than nonusers.#2009Conference #Evaluation2009 #HealthEvaluation
