One of the strategies used for Evaluation Capacity Building (ECB) is training. Using 2011-2012 data from the Peace Corps’ 184 projects in operation in 77 countries, the present study investigates the role training plays in promoting various professional program evaluation practices such as baseline data collection and use of these data. Results suggest that the projects where training was given were more likely to collect and use baseline data. Public and nonprofit organizations are recommended to include training as an important strategy while building EC.
