Social Network Analysis (SNA) is becoming increasingly popular in program evaluation as a way to learn about project collaboration and its influence on program outcomes/impacts. The Office of Educational Innovation and Evaluation (OEIE) will demonstrate a variety of novel techniques to help participants learn how to get the most value from an SNA. Techniques relate to four categories: key considerations for survey development, useful strategies for data cleaning, simple visualization methods for producing sociograms, and helpful guidelines and terminology for interpreting SNA (and assisting others in doing so). Participants will learn from OEIE’s first-hand experiences conducting over 30 SNAs in the last 5 years. OEIE will share SNA processes used in the evaluations of several large multidisciplinary Coordinated Agriculture Project (CAP) and Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research (EPSCoR) projects. This innovative session is guaranteed to be a valuable and memorable learning experience for evaluation professionals of any skill level.
