Eval12 Session 952: Managing the Impact of Staff Turnover on Evaluation Capacity & Quality

10-29-2012 17:56

Presentation Abstract: Evaluators are often challenged to maintain evaluation quality while building staff capacity for the evaluation. Accomplishing both tasks becomes especially challenging with staff and leadership turnover. The panelist will provide an overview of a residential family treatment program at The Wayside House, Inc. in St. Louis Park, MN. Wayside House provides chemical dependency programming for women who are pregnant or who have dependent children under the age of 12 and provides wraparound services for children. Wayside House’s program has enjoyed success in providing services to women and their families for three years, but has also faced the challenge of turnover among key administrative staff, including the evaluators. The panelist will describe the impact of turnover on staff evaluation capacity and maintaining rigorous evaluation methodology. The presentation will include a discussion of steps taken and strategies used to maintain a quality evaluation and to build staff capacity for an evaluation.
