Eval12 Session 740: Lessons Learned in the Evaluation of a National Capacity Building Project

11-01-2012 12:03

Panel held in 204A at the Convention Center Sponsored by the Nonprofit and Foundations Evaluation TIG Panel Abstract: In 2009, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) funded thirty organizations under its Capacity Building Assistance (CBA) program to provide assistance to community based organizations (CBOs), health departments (HDs), and community stakeholders to improve their capacity to implement effective HIV prevention programs. Since each of the 30 CBA providers is responsible for evaluating their own work, complex and varied evaluation methodologies have been employed to evaluate this national capacity building initiative. This panel will present an opportunity for five different CBA provider organizations to explore their perspectives, approaches, and experiences in evaluating this capacity building project. Presenters will explore their relationships to the CBA program and the relevance of their evaluation methods to the overall goal of the program.
