Eval12 Session 723: Using a Multi-Method, Multi-Informant Needs Assessment to Inform School District Priorities

10-29-2012 17:11

Presentation Abstract: Calls for integrating academic, behavioral, and social-emotional services to meet the needs of students have increased in recent years. One approach gaining momentum involves integrated multi-tiered systems of supports (MTSS) that matches the focus and intensity of instruction to student needs based on data across all three domains (i.e., academic, behavioral, social-emotional). However, schools and districts vary in terms of their readiness to implement MTSS, current implementation levels, and student outcomes, among other variables. This demonstration will describe how one state is using a multi-method, multi-informant needs assessment to inform the identification and prioritization of needs within the context of implementing MTSS. The process used to involve key stakeholders in the development and use of the needs assessment, the tools and procedures included, examples of its application, and future directions will be shared.
