Eval12 Session 199: Evaluating an Educational Support Program for Deaf and Hard of Hearing: Unique Needs

10-16-2012 17:17

The Postsecondary Education Programs Network (PEPNet) was a collaborative of four regional centers whose mission was to improve services and educational access to those who are deaf and hard of hearing, including those with co-occurring disabilities. PEPNet provided technical assistance and information dissemination, technology use instruction, and professional development to those who work with the deaf and hard of hearing including secondary and postsecondary educators, support staff, and administrative personnel. The evaluator for PEPNet will discuss the unique needs in designing and implementing an evaluation in a complex environment of a multilingual group of stakeholders that included participants who were deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing and their clients who were also multilingual (deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing). The discussion will also include a description of a training event for PEPNet staff so they could conduct focus groups with their clients as part of the evaluation.
