There are few who would debate the value of good nutrition. Educating children and their families on the nutritional values of various foods is one way Aurora Public Schools has attempted to address the growing childhood obesity issue. The Go, Slow, Whoa (GSW) Program was developed as a component of the CATCH program and adopted as a component of the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute WECAN! Program to help children identify healthy foods in school meals and at home. The GSW program focuses on teaching students and their families how to use the traffic light metaphor to identify the categories of foods they eat (“Go”, “Slow”, or “Whoa”) to make healthy choices. #2011Conference #HealthEvaluation #nutrition #Prek-12EducationalEvaluation
