The advent of the computer has provided us with the opportunity to readily create charts and graphs to illustrate key report findings; however, research demonstrates these illustrations are often created in a way that lacks tone, emphasis, functionality, and creativity. In turn, this frequently requires stakeholders to sift through evaluation reports that were created without visual intentionality. This presentation will focus on the process we engaged in to redesign a monthly evaluation report intentionally focused on the design principles of tone, emphasis, functionality, and creativity. After comparing stakeholder assessments of the pre- and post-redesigned evaluation reports we identified the key elements that supported leading stakeholders on a visual journey. This presentation will highlight the importance of visual communication within Oregon Health & Science University School of Nursing monthly evaluation reports and identify what stakeholders recognized as valuable and what muddles the lucidity of the evaluation findings for our audience. #DataVisualizationandReporting #2011Conference
