A preliminary report of the initial development and assessment of a self assessment tool for cultural competence

This roundtable will provide an opportunity for individuals interested in promoting and teaching about cultural competence as part of a general preparation in evaluation methods to share philosophy, practices and challenges. The presenters will discuss evaluation theory and cultural competence from the perspective of teaching (Hernandez) and practice (Yuen) providing general guidelines and suggested practice from the perspective of successful and not-so-successful experience. Participants will discuss, elaborate and suggest related to their own interests and expertise and presenters will collect and organize the proceedings and email results to interested participants in an effort to facilitate self examination and further the development of evaluation skills related to teaching and practice for all involve
