STEM education projects often include a partnership component, but many struggle to productively use evaluation to examine, learn about, and change their approach to these relationships. Social network analysis (SNA) systematically answers key questions and probes deeper than the surface: How are partnerships progressing - or why aren't they? Who else needs to be involved? Where are the weak points or possible points of failure in a collaboration? During this roundtable, evaluators who have used SNA in STEM education evaluation will briefly share some tips, tricks, and lessons learned for evaluators who may be new to these approaches. We will highlight the technique’s practical value and how stakeholders have viewed, valued, and applied network knowledge to improve their projects. Discussion within the group will focus on SNA applications, and we encourage attendees to come ready to ask questions, share ideas, and consider how their own projects could learn about collaboration.Authors: Hilarie Davis, TLC Inc., & Ann Martin, Science Systems and Applications, Inc.Attached files:- Handout of resources useful for getting started in Social Network Analysis- 4 case studies in applying SNA techniques in STEM education projects
