These are the slides used to introduce empowerment evaluation at the 2009 AEA Empowerment Evaluation Workshop. Dr. Fetterman facilitated the workshop. He highlighted the 3 steps of empowerment evaluation: 1) mission, 2) taking stock; and 3) planning for the future. He also highlighted the role of process use and related theories guiding empowerment evaluation. Dr. Fetterman also highlighted the 10 principles of empowerment evaluation (presented in detail in Fetterman, D.M. and Wandersman, A. (2005). Empowerment evaluation principles in practice. New York: Guilford Publications. The presentation concludes with a discussion about the tech tools used to facilitate empowerment evaluations.
