11-09-2017 17:18

The National Center on the Use of Emerging Technologies to Improve Literacy Achievement for Students with Disabilities in Middle School (CET) was funded by the Office of Special Education Programs to improve reading comprehension for students with disabilities in middle schools. CET achieved this goal through the creation and implementation of a “Next Generation Literacy Ecosystem” named “Udio.”  Udio is a networked reading environment for middle school students that displays engaging web content in a supported, personalized, and pedagogically rich format. In this panel presentation, the external evaluators will describe Udio, review the three the phases of the efficacy study, and explain the innovative evaluation techniques employed to understand how teachers and students were using Udio. The final panelist, the Project Director, will share how CET used the qualitative observation data to better understand and gain insights into the study’s quantitative findings and learn how using Udio had impacted students.
