Have you ever wondered how you can speed up the process of analyzing rich, in-depth qualitative data without compromising rigor? We argue that even for the novice qualitative researcher and/or practitioner, a few basic features of Atlas.ti can greatly facilitate your data analysis process, considerably reducing the time it takes to code and retrieve the data you need. While we are not suggesting the researcher is off the hook when it comes to doing the hard, interpretive work, there are efficiencies built into Qualitative Data Analysis Software (QDAS) that can make analysis manageable. In this demonstration, we will show participants how to create an Atlas.ti project, analyze using both a priori and emergent codes, and quickly retrieve quotations for a particular code. This demonstration will also show you how to tag memos to quotations and produce a few useful outputs including a count of codes for typicality analysis.
