The Missouri Foundation for Health currently funds an evaluation of a multi-site obesity prevention initiative. Projects implement physical activity and healthy eating components, including a policy/advocacy component. This paper discusses the application of PolicyLift, a comprehensive, evidence-based tool designed to assess the strength and comprehensiveness of obesity prevention policy language. The authors assessed the language of local-level policies (e.g., school, worksite wellness policies) implemented by projects. The authors discuss preliminary findings of this assessment. The authors provide suggestions for future considerations in applying or developing tools to assess local-level policy work and the need for tools that assess different steps of the policy process including, advocacy, policy language development, policy adoption and implementation, and associated or anticipated outcomes of the policy. #2013Conference #obesity #policy #HealthEvaluation #AdvocacyandPolicyChange
