Session Abstract: University-public agency workforce development partnerships are a well-established approach for preparing the future and current child welfare workforce. This session will present the evaluation approaches for two workforce development programs. Georgia’s Professional Excellence Child Welfare Continuing Education and Training (PE-CET) Program provides training and development opportunities for veteran staff in the state’s public child welfare agency. The training program’s evaluation design is informed by the Kirkpatrick Model of training evaluation, which emphasizes establishing a chain of evidence from participant reaction to training impact on targeted outcomes. Georgia’s Child Welfare Training Collaborative (CWTC) employs a step-wise program model to facilitate training opportunities and community collaboration between child welfare workers and community members. A mixed-method approach from planning through outcomes measurement is used in the evaluation of the program. Panelists will engage audience members in a discussion of how the integrated use of different approaches guides the evaluation of these programs.
