11-11-2017 09:24

Presentation Slides from Thursday, November 9, 2017 10:30 am session (Room Washington 3)

Description

Presenters will review a gender-affirming educational pilot designed for health care providers to provide better care for transgender and gender non-conforming patients which inspired the creation of a new evaluation methodology, and positively impacted corporate culture.  Presenters will share insights on the importance of recognizing and addressing the continuing education provider's own lack of awareness regarding cultural myths and misconceptions, health care disparities and gender expression.  Presenters will also examine how inclusion initiatives were used to determine overall educational design, and develop a new outcomes methodology to measure the effect of attitudinal and behavior shifts on clinical skills and practice changes.  At the end of this session, learners will be able to:

  • Utilize outcome and evaluation measures that assess attitudinal and behavioral shifts in population-specific clinical skills and practice changes
  • Extrapolate educational strategies that promote compassionate and culturally competent care for under-served populations with specific needs and critical care gaps
