These are the materials from AEA Session 2450: Demonstrating Tools for Supporting Programs Along Different Stages of the Evaluation Life Cycle Delivered Thursday, October 27th at AEA 2016 in Atlanta. Programs may be unsure about how to begin the evaluation journey, and what goals they should set. Tools may be useful to structure and facilitate the initial stages of an evaluation, increasing the chances that the program will move steadily toward a sustainable evaluation pathway. Dr. Valerie Ehrlich, from the Center for Creative Leadership, and a research team from JBS International (Drs. Peter Lovegrove and Leith Lombas, and Stacey Houston) will: 1) Describe an evaluation ‘life cycle,’ where programs move from initial discovery, the formulation of a logic model, and may move on to the assessment of outcomes and impact; 2) Demonstrate tools to facilitate discussions among stakeholders to define needs, brainstorm designs, and establish a commitment to evaluation; 3) Provide detailed guidance with case studies and examples for developing a logic model; and 4) Present detailed guidance for selecting the right analysis techniques (e.g. descriptive analysis, t-tests), to answer particular research questions that emerge at different stages of the program’s life cycle.#2016Conference #EvaluationUse
