Three technologies which came into their own in the first decade of the 21st century – the cloud, the smart phone and the tablet computing device – are having a profound influence on our information and knowledge infrastructure and operation. Evaluation can be included in this realm. These 21st century technologies and their impact are examined here with specific reference to the work being done to replace a pencil and paper evaluation instrument with an on-line Bring-Your-Own-Device aware method at one institution.
