Eval17 - Partnering with Other Evaluators: Maximizing Benefits, Minimizing Challenges

11-21-2017 16:04

Learning from fellow practitioners through conferences, workshops, articles, and blogs can be a critical but at times lonely part of one’s professional growth and development. Another method of learning common but rarely discussed practice is partnering with other evaluators whose experiences and skills vary from one’s own. In fact, individuals and organizations are increasingly collaborating with other evaluators to meet the diverse needs of clients leading complex social change efforts. While partnerships can be a compelling mechanism to enrich one’s individual repertoire of skills and techniques, they can also be complicated, disappointing, or downright unenjoyable. This session will explore ways to make the most of evaluator partnerships drawing on the experience of two seasoned practitioners. Participants will learn about reasons to partner, the benefits that can result, and some pitfalls to avoid. They will also have the opportunity to share their own experiences and lessons learned.
