Data-driven instruction in K-12 is the current bullet train. Federal and state policies challenge educators to use data to meet Annual Measurable Objectives. Recent research studies report schools focusing on in-depth data collection and analysis have better achievement results compared to schools that do not. Timely data collection and analysis informing classroom instruction provides a baseline for classroom teachers to differentiate instruction per student needs and to construct new teaching strategies for the areas that need improvement. Various data visualization software enables educators make sense of the numbers whether they are number geek or number phobic. In this session, we will demonstrate efficient and practical uses of Excel and Xcelsius to have actionable data-driven instruction using standardized tests, school grades, student surveys, and benchmark tests.
