Eval12 Session 299: Balancing Impact, Accountability and Learning in Measurement, Learning and Evaluation Systems

10-29-2012 15:51

Presentation Abstract: Increasingly, foundations and non-profit organizations are developing Measurement, Learning and Evaluation (MLE) or similarly named plans to help manage their work and support ongoing learning. These typically include interim outcomes toward reaching impact, indicators, targets measurement tools, and mechanisms for ongoing strategic learning. Based on experiences with a number of philanthropic and non-profit clients, ORS and a representative of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will share lessons learned from various MLE development processes and lift up key questions related to assessing accountability, cultivating buy-in within the organization, inclusion of achievable or aspirational outcomes, the value of monitoring measures and the ultimate reporting format or dashboard to discuss with others engaged in these kinds of efforts.
