College Access Programs (
CAP) TIG members have a specific interest- to enhance the quality of college access programming through evaluation data. This TIG offers a community of practice for evaluators to discuss issues college and career awareness and readiness, as well as college enrollment, retention, and completion rates. Potential areas of interest or backgrounds may include secondary education, college advisement, dual-enrollment, career technical education (CTE), early middle college, OST programs, Extension Education, and college and career preparation.

Mission Statement
 

The College Access Programs (CAP) TIG provides a professional learning community (PLC) to support evaluators with enhancing the quality of college and career awareness and readiness programming. 

Vision 

The CAP TIG seeks to foster an inclusive, diverse, and international community of practice positioned as a respected source of information for and about college access evaluations.  

Values 

The CAP TIG aligned its values with the values of the American Evaluation Association (AEA). AEA values excellence in evaluation practice, utilization of evaluation findings, and inclusion and diversity in the evaluation community. 

  1. We value high quality, ethically defensible, culturally responsive evaluation practices that lead to effective and humane organizations and ultimately to the enhancement of the public good. 
  2. We value high quality, ethically defensible, culturally responsive evaluation practices that contribute to decision-making processes, program improvement, and policy formulation. 
  3. We value a global and international evaluation community and understanding of evaluation practices. 
  4. We value the continual development of evaluation professionals and the development of evaluators from under-represented groups. 
  5. We value inclusiveness and diversity, welcoming members at any point in their career, from any context, and representing a range of thought and approaches. 
  6. We value efficient, effective, responsive, transparent, and socially responsible association operations.

How to Join the CAP TIG

To become a member of the College Access Program Topical Interest Group, you must become a member of the parent organization, American Evaluation Association (AEA). When you join the AEA, choose the CAP TIG from the list of TIGs as one of the groups you want to be part of. This will also put you on our e-mail list for announcements, calls for papers, and more.
