IC TIG Mission Statement

  • Foster a community of independent evaluators by creating a discussion group, providing peer reviews as may be requested by members, sharing resources and experience, and reducing the isolation of being an independent proprietor.

  • Promote independent consulting as an evaluation profession by providing a forum for those starting, or thinking about starting, their own practice—conducting workshops and sessions at AEA conferences that deal with the various aspects of being an independent consultant, from being a sole proprietor, developing clients and marketing, developing contracts, client relations, working with foundations and public agencies, collaboration with other evaluators, developing a business plan, responding to RFPs, and similar topics.

  • Increase the professionalism of independent consultants by providing skill building workshops and sessions at AEA conferences that deal with such issues as survey design and instrumentation, quantitative and qualitative analysis, theory-based evaluation, cost analysis, report preparation, and similar topics.
