Many international development projects face challenges to implementing Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting (CLA) in their work. How can a small team implement rigorous CLA? What are some tools that projects can use to learn and improve programming? How can a project form strong, trusting relationships with stakeholders? In Colombia, the USAID Human Resources for Health in 2030 Program (HRH2030) implemented by Chemonics International uses CLA approaches to strengthen the Colombian Family Welfare Institute’s (ICBF) organizational capacity to provide violence prevention and protection services to children and families. Through strong collaboration, robust formative evaluation, and formal opportunities to pause and reflect, the activity has shined light on new understandings of the Colombia social services workforce and used this information to tailor interventions appropriately. In this poster, we share the best practices and lessons we learned through our CLA approach and some adaptable tools that can be used to understand and improve organizational capacity.
