Handout from Addressing the Opioid Crisis with Mobile Response in Southern Indiana: How Data Can Further the Impact, presented at Eval19 Conference. The Choices Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a group of specialists who are available 24/7 to respond to individuals and families experiencing challenges with opioid overdoses, substance use and mental health crises in Southeastern Indiana. The goal of CERT is to support clients and their families. Social workers respond during a time of crisis to stabilize the situation and ensure individuals are connected with long-term recovery services to achieve success. Each response is adapted to the individual needs of the client.
In this roundtable, we will discuss our collaboration with CERT social workers to gain insights into the population served, the services needed, and success in connecting clients with services. Findings will also be reviewed to demonstrate how we can increase our community’s understanding of clients served and substance use, as well as how we can inform the conversation around addressing substance use in rural communities.
