Presented at AEA 2017.This paper will describe strategies and lessons learned that independent evaluation consultants may use to develop a customized, translational approach to evaluation capacity building. It will highlight how to develop a menu of capacity building services that may be offered to grantees funded by the same agency. These may include application review, trainings, one-on-one coaching, site specific workshops and others. The paper will also discuss techniques for providing such services, such as contracting the work, communicating with the funding agency and building trust with grantees.
