Non-profit work is highly mission motivated and conducted with heartstrings. There is a place for individuals who love data and evaluation inside non-profits. About 7 years ago, Miriam’s Kitchen realized we need to put ourselves out of business and END chronic homelessness in DC rather than being a soup kitchen. We soon realized we need to be able to answer, “how are you doing that?” and “is that working?”
We have created an evaluation cycle that works for us. From setting targets, creating visually appealing reports, to discussing progress with all staff and board, we have created a culture of staff members would can speak to the truth of our progress towards mission. And we are ending chronic homelessness in DC.
