What’s the best database software? It depends. What’s your budget? How much customization is required? Does it need to be web-based? What level of security is required? To make it more difficult, the technology is expanding and changing rapidly. In the last ten years, we’ve gone from an environment where Microsoft Access databases were the only cheap, viable solution to a proliferation of internet-based options including many out-of-the box programs like Effort to Outcomes (ETO) and Apricot that are designed specifically for tracking clients, services, and outcomes. In this session, we looked at today’s database software landscape and how it’s evolving including “the cloud”, the rise of “Software as a Service” options like Salesforce and the proliferation of cheap web hosts like Go Daddy. Then, we discussed what factors to consider when choosing (or helping a client choose) the best option. #softwareasaservice #software #database #relationaldatabase #2013Conference #IntegratingTechnologyintoEvaluation #HowTo
