Abstract: Arizona State University’s ASU Online has established unique online course evaluations as one element of a comprehensive data-driven plan to evaluate factors that influence student success in online courses and programs. The study utilizes a short online course evaluation survey with 20 questions organized around student perceptions of (1) their own learning, (2) their course design, and (3) their interactions with their instructor. With student consent, ASU Online connects student perception data from the survey with course outcomes, student demographic and persistence data, and online course activity data from the learning management system to study factors that support success in ASU Online courses and programs. Findings from four sessions (SpringA through SummerB 2012) are presented to show how course evaluation data has influenced online course redesign, faculty training and suggested critical factors to support student success in online courses. #DistanceEdandOtherEducationalTech #2012Conference #AssessmentinHigherEducation
