Eval12 Session 562: Using Nominal Group Technique for Data Gathering, Prioritizing, and Decision Making

11-07-2012 16:01

The nominal group technique (NGT) is a valuable small group technique that has many possible applications for M&E professionals, particularly those working in needs assessment. NGT has many uses, including data collection, prioritization, facilitating decision making, building consensus, cross-cultural applications, and other innovative uses. But NGT is often implemented incorrectly. The word “nominal” – in name only –is the key concept that distinguishes NGT from any other group interview/ discussion. See our handouts for more information on conducting an NGT.
