Core Competencies for Evaluators: Aligning Evaluator Training to the Proposed AEA Competencies

11-22-2017 14:00

This multi-paper session was held on Saturday, November 11th at AEA 2017 in Washington D.C.

The Applied Research Center at the University of Wisconsin
Stout is comprised of a team of seasoned evaluators who have developed courses to train working professionals and others in the fields of Evaluation Studies and Institutional Research. The 14-credit graduate certificate includes courses in theory, systematic inquiry, and data collection and analysis. Education in these courses also extends to include applied topics such as responding to RFPs, project management, and data visualization. This presentation will focus on how courses were developed in alignment with the core competencies for evaluators first proposed by Stevahn, King, Ghere, & Minnema (2005), the flexible and web-based delivery method, and how the certificate program was adapted to two real world projects in partnership with a national vocational rehabilitation program and the Annie E. Casey Foundation.
