AEA 2017, Session 1006: Color Scripting: Adapting a tool created by Disney-Pixar for use in evaluation

11-10-2017 18:09

While at Disney's D23 Expo in 2015, I learned about a technique created by Ralph Eggleston (from Pixar) called color scripting. Color scripting is a type of story boarding, but Mr. Eggleston would change the main colors of each panel to reflect the emotion the animated film was supposed to portray at that time. In the past two years, I have adapted this technique to be useful in professional development sessions, workshops, meetings, and other venues. Clients love the tool because it's easy to implement, it provides visual results, it leads to rich discussions, and it can be immediately used to improve programs. In this session, you'll learn 1) how to do color scripting and 2) how to analyze the findings from color scripting in order to improve programs.
