Presentation Abstract: Numerous tools currently exist for online data collection which makes the process of selecting tools an important, but possibly confusing, task. Choosing a data collection tool depends on a number of factors, including evaluation context, budget, survey complexity, and the generalizability of results. These presentations will share lessons learned collecting data online through cutting-edge data collection strategies: online survey panels and customized data collection tools. In the first presentation, we cover two online panel vendors, Knowledge Networks and e-Rewards, and discuss the implications of using each in survey research. In the second presentation, we examine software options for administering surveys, specifically LimeSurvey, a free, open-source competitor to SurveyMonkey and other commercial products, and an online survey management tool developed in-house by Professional Data Analysts, Inc. Demonstrations of the tools will be provided, as well as tips for successful implementation by others. Time will be allowed for questions from the audience.#2012Conference #HowTo #Instruments #IntegratingTechnologyintoEvaluation
