Sustaining an Evaluator Community of Practice

01-15-2015 16:46

This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Washington Evaluators (WE), a local affiliate of the American Evaluation Association (AEA). As the founding President of WE has noted, affiliates help to develop an evaluation community in a local area. WE has become an evaluation community of practice. WE membership draws from the large, ubiquitous presence of the U.S. Federal government in the DC area, but also from state and local governments, nonprofits, academia, consulting firms and independent consultants, and the private sector. This think tank will explore the following: 1) How has WE developed and sustained an evaluation community of practice? 2) How can evaluation communities of practice take advantage of opportunities and address challenges to sustain evaluators and the evaluation profession? Five WE Past Presidents and the WE President-elect will address question 1, and will facilitate audience participation is addressing the second question.
