Presentation Abstract: The Graduate Southern Kentucky Teach (GSKyTeach) alternative certification residency program at Western Kentucky University prepares and places new mathematics, chemistry, and physics teachers in high-need high schools in Jefferson County Public Schools (JCPS) in Louisville, Kentucky. Through partnerships with JCPS, the Commonwealth Center for Parent Leadership, and the Kentucky Education Professional Standards Board, the one-year residency experience enables Graduate Resident Interns (GRIs) to work alongside experienced teacher mentors while pursuing graduate studies. Program completion provides teacher certification and a Master of Arts in Education. Edvantia is conducting a quasi-experimental, mixed-method evaluation to share formative feedback for program improvement and to assess program effectiveness.
